Water Resource Leader Dr. Harry Zhang Joins CH2M HILL as Principal Technologist
CH2M HILL, a global full-service engineering, construction and operations firm, announced today that Dr. Harry Zhang has joined the firm as the principal technologist and leader of industrial water resource services for the energy, chemical and industrial systems business group.
Zhang has nearly 15 years of diversified experience in water resource issues and environmental systems engineering working for private and public clients throughout the United States, Canada and China.
In his new role, Zhang will be responsible for contributing to the procurement, management and execution of industrial water resource projects. He will be based in CH2M HILL’s Chantilly, Virginia office.
Prior to joining CH2M HILL, Zhang a member of the core program management team for a $93 million, 5-year contract with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency National Watershed Protection Program.
He is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed publications. Zhang was the co-chair of the Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibit and Conference 2007 sustainable water resources management technical track. He also chaired the Hydrology and Watershed Management Committee of the American Water Resources Association as well as a subcommittee at 2007 National TMDL Science and Policy Conference hosted by the Water Environment Federation.
The U.S. Secretary of the Interior appointed Zhang to serve as one of 30 voting members on the inter-agency advisory committee on water information, which serves as a presidential advisory committee.
Zhang received his PhD in environmental engineering with a minor in systems engineering from the University of Virginia. He has a master’s in environmental engineering and a minor in geotechnical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, and his bachelor’s in environmental engineering with a minor in sanitary engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing. He is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
